The second generation Toyota Mirai, with its zero-emissions hydrogen powered system, has won the 2022 AJAC Best Green Innovation Award.
Under the hood, the Mirai performs essentially as an electric vehicle – but one that never needs to be plugged in to recharge. The fuel cell stack is safe and proven – having been developed and put through testing around the same time that Toyota introduced the first gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle more than two decades ago. The stack combines compressed hydrogen gas from the Mirai’s tanks with oxygen from the atmosphere. The resulting chemical reaction produces the electricity to power the Mirai. The only by-product is water vapour, which is eliminated through a vent pipe beneath the vehicle. Best of all, the Mirai can be refueled in about five minutes.
It is is expected to go on sale this year in markets where hydrogen refuelling infrastructure exists – including select regions of Quebec and British Columbia. Sales will expand into additional markets as refuelling facilities are established.

Yesterday we talked about the 2022 Tundra with the i-FORCE MAX powertrain.
Today we want to talk about the 2023 Sequoia, because it will be powered by this same powertrain across the entire lineup. It will generate 437 horsepower and 583 lb.-ft. of torque, and boast a towing capacity of up to 4,080 kg (9,000 lbs.)
The 2023 Sequoia will begin to be available in the summer of this year.

The 2022 Tundra i-FORCE MAX, powered by a hybrid powertrain, and available in 10 trim options, will become available this spring. The options will feature CrewMax cabins and a choice of 5.5-ft or 6.5-ft bed sizes.
This truck boasts serious power, coupled with fuel efficiency and proven Toyota reliability. This all-new hybrid powertrain is built around a twin-turbo V6, paired with a motor/generator and clutch located within the bell housing. This inline motor/generator provides additional power that’s transferred efficiently via the transmission, while engine start-up, EV driving, electric assist, and energy regeneration are accomplished solely via the parallel hybrid components. Mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, this powertrain packs an impressive punch, producing 437 peak horsepower and up to 583 lb-ft of torque.

This black and white colour combination you see for the interior is a Capstone-only option. The centre console and passenger-side dash are accented with authentic American Walnut with an open-pore finish that highlights the wood grain. On the dash, the Walnut pieces surround a Capstone logo that is accentuated with LED mood lighting when the doors are opened. To help provide an even quieter cabin, Capstone is the only Sequoia grade to feature acoustic glass in the front doors for more exterior sound deadening.
